ReplyFred M, I'm not sure why you're directing your comments at me. I did not mention anything about the beach replenishment. I only replied regarding the bridge closure.

ReplyThe comments here should pertain more to what the article was about and that is the total closing of the bridge at a very bad time. As stated in the article, Woody, who by the way help feed and cheer up hundreds of people by running the lunch kitchen in Sea Bright and this is what he gets for being a good guy. As stated, the work could be done by lane closures and late night work, but no, let’s not go out of our way to help those in need or those who have helped so many others. Monmouth County have a heart and figure out a way to do this without a total closure of the bridge.

ReplyAnyone notice that during the evening commute that people are cutting thru the A & P parking lot to avoid the traffic turning left from Church St. onto Prospect. I had a number of cars whiz by me while walking thru the lot only to see them go right for the traffic light at Markem and Prospect. Someone in the parking lots is going to be hit sooner or later.

ReplyYes, I forgot to say my thanks to the boys from Alabama Power & Light for restoring our power. I spoke with a line supervisor who came over to ask me why I was standing there watching them with just a tee shirt on and I said after little heat and all this cold I was warm watching them repair the lines. HE STATED and I do this in CAPS FOR EFFECT: OUR UTILITY POLES ARE IN VERY POOR SHAPE. THE WORST HE HAS SEEN IN MANY OF THESE CRISES THAT HE HAS PARTICIPATED IN. Enuf said!!!!

ReplyThe utility truck came and put in the new utility pole on Crest Dr. and then disappeared. That was a few hours ago and nothing has happened since. The wires are still attached to the old pole that is on about a 60 degree angle. So, the latest schedule called for Crest to be restored on the 8th or 9th which I guess won't get met. So, off I go to buy more gas for the generator and I'll pass by the twenty or so utility truck camped in the Fort Monmouth security entrance on Oceanport Ave. sitting there doing nothing.

The highlands bridge was redone in two years start to finish. This little bridge took nine months. Some thing's wrong here. Also, I walked down to the bridge on Sunday March 3rd. There was no one working on that bridge, yet I was in Sea Bright the same day and almost every construction project had people working on them. Working weekends? Any one watching these guys at the bridge????
