I misunderstood the comment earlier. I didn't understand what seeya tax payer meant. I assumed he meant beach replenishment when he said "rebuild the sand."

Seeya Tax Payer, the Army Corps of Engineers will be handling the sand replenishment for Long Branch. I don't believe the city workers are being asked to rebuild the beaches.

Dominick is correct as well. This is another thing I have written about a lot as well. The city is going to wait until the beach replenishment is finished (which could be the first quarter of 2014) before rebuilding anything.

Brenda, I have written a lot about this in the past, if you search Long Branch boardwalk on the site you will find out the mayor and other officials' reasons why. But, in a nutshell, the city still is waiting for FEMA money to build a larger, stronger boardwalk and also must rebuild the bluff much of the boardwalk is built upon. If the city were to rebuild the boardwalk exactly as it was, and another storm destroyed it, FEMA would not be able to help recoup the cost as they are now.
