Shore Regional Vice Principal Named Administrator of the Year

Honor comes after nomination to New Jersey Association of Student Councils

Shore Regional Vice Principal Vincent DalliCardillo will receive a special honor after some of his students took it upon themselves to nominate him for an award. DalliCardillo will be named New Jersey Administrator of the Year by the New Jersey Association of Student Council (NJASC) at its October meeting. The Shore Regional Student Council recently nominated DalliCardillo for the award, which is given to an administrator every year. The criteria for the group's winners are listed as someone who has assisted the NJASC by being supportive of the policies, programs, and leadership activities.

Shore Regional BOE Says Goodbye to One, Welcomes Another

One BOE member not seeking re-election, new athletic director introduced

The Shore Regional Board of Education said goodbye Thursday night to one longtime board member and also introduced the district's new athletic director. BOE member Nancy DeScenza has announced that she will not run for re-election in this year's  race after serving the Shore Regional and Sea Bright boards for the last 26 years. DeScenza was presented with a plaque from the Shore Regional BOE and the New Jersey School Boards Association. Superintendent Renae LaPrete thanked DeScenza for her years of service. "Nancy as been an exemplary board member, and I have learned a lot from her in my one year at the school," LaPrete said. Three Shore Regional Field Hockey Players Named To US Junior National Squads

Oceanport residents Aileen Johnson, Shannon Johnson and Hannah Barreca named to squad

Three Shore Regional High School field hockey players have been named to the U.S. Junior National Field Hockey squads. Graduating seniors Hannah Barreca and Aileen Johnson and incoming senior Shannon Johnson, all of Oceanport, were named to the team on Wednesday evening according to the United States Olympic Committee website. Aileen Johnson and Barreca were named to the U21 Junior Squad and Shannon Johnson, Aileen's younger sister, was named to the U19 Junior Squad. The U19 squad is comprised of 24 players who will report to a training camp in January 2013 at the Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. Shore Regional, West Long Branch Will Not Share Superintendent

Districts will also not share business administrator

  Shore Regional High School and the West Long Branch School District will not be sharing a superintendent this school year, even after a recent feasibility study advised the schools to do so. West Long Branch Interim Superintendent and Business Administrator Herbert Massa said the districts have not completely ruled out the idea of doing so. "When you hire a superintendent, you have to hire them for a minimum of three years," Massa said on Tuesday. "What the district can do, is after a year go back to Shore and discuss the possibility of sharing a superintendent." Shore Regional Alum Presents Students With Scholarships

Four seniors presented with scholarships

  Shore Regional alumni Wayne Reisner was back in the area last week to present a check to the 2012 winners of the Wayne Reisner Scholarship. Reisner started the scholarship program 12 years ago. Shore Regional seniors Heidi Schaffner, RJ Bohnert, Caitlin Chapski and Christina Kapalko were the winners of this year's scholarship and each will receive $6,000 over the next four years. Schaffner will be attending CW Post in the fall, Bohnert is off to Westchester University while Chapski will attend Rutgers and Kapalko will be at Franklin Marshall. Shore Regional Class of 2012 Graduates

Ceremony was held at the Multipurpose Activity Center

  The Shore Regional class of 2012 beat the heat on Wednesday afternoon as the seniors held their commencement ceremony at the Multipurpose Activity Center (MAC) at Monmouth University. Shore Regional Board of Education President Ronald O'Neill said the ceremony was held at the MAC for the third year and that everybody gathered to "honor and celebrate the achievements of the class of 2012." "You have all brought true honor to your families and your school," O'Neill said. Salutatorian Abigail Reinhard gave a unique speech where she used one adjective to describe each member of her graduating class. Shore Regional Class Reunion Brings Back Memories and Creates New Ones

Class of 1987 tours school for time capsule recovery

  The Shore Regional Class of 1987 recently held an eventful 25-year reunion at the high school and in Asbury Park. Members of the class returned to Shore for a time-capsule recovery and tour on Friday, June 8. Although the class's time-capsule went unfound, alumni attendees were treated to witness the contents of 1962's time capsule, recently retrieved from within the school's foundation. A tour of the building was conducted for the alumni wherein they were able to see all the changes that have occurred over the past 25 years like the school's media center, fitness center, gymnasium, dance studio and television studio. State To WLB, Shore Regional: Interlaken Students Must Go To Asbury Park Schools

Schools began allowing Interlaken children to attend in September.

The state has told the West Long Branch and Shore Regional School districts that they should not have accepted 19 Interlaken children. According to an Asbury Park Press article, Joseph F. Passiment Jr., the interim executive Monmouth County superintendent, wrote the Interlaken board March 12 that it ignored a directive last August that said the district was sending the children on a sending-receiving basis that was not approved by the state commissioner and that contract had to be rescinded. “The Interlaken Board of Education as well as the boards of education of West Long Branch and Shore Regional ignored the directive and continued to establish a sending-receiving relationship under a tuition contract basis for the 2011-2012 school year…

Some Interlaken kids also attend Red Bank Regional High School in Little Silver, along with students from Asbury, Keyport, Union Beach, Neptune, Bradley Beach, Millstone and many other towns with send-receive agreements. Shore Players Celebrating 50 Years

Group will hold 50th anniversary show March 24

Shore Regional is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and a big part of the celebration will come in the form of the  Shore Player Reunion Musical Review. Shore Players is Shore Regional's theater group, which usually performs two plays each school year. Shore Player alumni will be returning to the stage on Saturday March 24 at 7 p.m. at Shore Regional to entertain the community. The production will feature over 25 performers from the past 50 years who will perform solos, duets, and ensemble and dance numbers from many Shore Regional past productions such as Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Hello Dolly, Gypsy, Beauty and the Beast, Pippin, Crazy For You, West Side Story and Evita.
