The team celebrated departing seniors on Saturday night.
The Red Bank Regional High School ice hockey team bid farewell to departing senior players at a dinner on Saturday night. The dinner, held at the Rjedkin's in Little Silver, honored players Jack Lynch, Charlie Fox and Sam Maraschio, who are graduating in June. The Bucs ended their season with a 3-2 overtime loss to the RFH Bulldogs in the Dowd Cup ice hockey tournament semifinals in February. Brothers Jack and Brian Lynch will play together in Wednesday's playoff game against Rumson-Fair Haven.
When the RBR Bucs varsity hockey team hits the ice Wednesday afternoon to compete in the Dowd Cup ice hockey tournament semifinals, it could be one of the last times two of its members gets to play together. Brothers Jack and Brian Lynch of Little Silver have been playing ice hockey since they were each six but this year marks the first that they are actually playing on the same team. The senior and freshman come from a long line of hockey players as both of their parents grew up in the Boston area and their father coached the RBR team for three years until 2008. Rumson-Fair Haven reigns supreme in neighborly ice war, launching 40 shots on Red Bank in Saturday's game.
The Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs (3-0) defeated the Red Bank Regional Buccaneers (0-3) by a score of 4-1 in a high school hockey matchup at Red Bank Armory Ice Complex Saturday. The Bulldogs took control of the puck early in the game, pounding RBR goalie Charlie Fox with 16 shots in the first period. Fox stepped up and stopped them all, but the Bucs struggled to get the puck out of their zone long enough to generate any scoring chances. RFH kept the Bucs from getting a single shot on goalie Sam Adkinson in the first. It was exactly what Rumson-Fair Haven Coach Chris McCaffery was looking for from his team.
