Battle of the Classes RBR Food Drive

Students use their video skills to create a PSA encouraging food donations.

Those Red Bank Regional (RBR) videographers are at it again. This time, members of the graphic communications class lent their skills to a public service announcement encouraging food donations.    The video, begins with two students squaring off in friendly competition over who can collect the most food, challenges RBR students to beat last year's 11,500 food item donation to the Salvation Army. The Battle of the Classes all-school food drive runs through May 17. Students are asked to label the donations with their class year. The class that brings in the most food will receive $1,000 toward their prom.

NJSIAA Bans R-FH, RBR Baseball From Postseason

The teams got into a bench-clearing brawl that resulted in the arrest of one adult on Saturday.

Rumson Fair-Haven and Red Bank Regional baseball will be ineligible for state tournaments following Saturday's melee in Little Silver, NJ.com reports. The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) issued the ruling Monday, according to the report. The incident occurred after a collision at home plate led to players on both teams rushing the field. Patrick Maisto, 49, a parent of a Rumson-Fair Haven student, is accused of coming on the field and assaulting a Buc player, according to an APP.com report. Maisto, who was arrested by Little Silver police, will reportedly plead not-guilty to the charge of simple assault, according to an APP.com article. Red Bank Regional Teachers, BOE Finalizing Labor Contract Settlement

Two sides have been negotiating for over two years

After over two years of negotiations, the Red Bank Regional Board of Education and the teacher's union are close to finalizing a labor contract settlement. The RBR Board of Education and the RBR Educational Association (RBREA) have both accepted the New Jersey State Fact Finder’s Report which stipulates the parameters of a labor agreement between the two entities through the 2013-2014 school year. The findings of the report were presented to the Board of Education on April 17, 2013. Approximately 150 teachers and office personnel employed by the board have been working without a contract since July, 2011. The terms and conditions of the expired agreement have remained in effect during the negotiations. Their salaries and health benefits …

RFH Parent Arrested Following RBR Baseball Game Melee

Benches cleared in the sixth inning at a game Saturday morning when an RBR runner collided with the RFH catcher.

A sixth-inning collision — during a tie game when a Red Bank Regional player running from third base collided with the Rumson-Fair Haven catcher — cleared both benches and ended up with all brawling players possibly suspended from upcoming games and the arrest of a Rumson parent for alleged simple assault, according to APP.com. Patrick Maisto, 49, an RFH parent, is accused of coming on the field and assaulting a Buc player, according to the report. The game was immediately terminated and both teams could be found ineligible to compete in the upcoming NJSIAA Tournament.
