Update: RBR Commemoration of 31-0 Bucs Team Postponed to Feb. 15

The 1982-83 Boys Basketball team, which made history with a 31-0 season, will be honored at an upcoming Bucs game.

Update, 2/8: Due to the threat of inclement weather, the Feb. 9 RBR game against Shore Regional is canceled, as is the commemoration of the 1982-83 31-0 Bucs team. RBR has rescheduled the commemoration for 6 p.m. Feb. 15. ---- It was a season to remember. It was perfect. For basketball, anyway. The Red Bank Regional boys basketball team owned the 1982-83 season, finishing with a 31-0 record and captivating the hearts and imaginations of sports fans from all over the area.  “I was a student at Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School at the time," RBR’s current athletic director Del Dal Pra recalled.  “And every weekend my friends and I would go down the road and root the RBR Buccaneers to another victory. RBR Basketball for a Good Cause

Basketball fundraiser at R-FH this weekend supports a Fair Haven student who wants to raise awareness for POTS — a painful disorder.

It's called POTS — postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, a form of a disorder called dysautonomia. It sounds daunting and it is. It's also something with which Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School junior Emily Walsack has had to live. And her mom, Jamie, along with friends and family, has been trying to raise awareness of the disorder, support for her daughter and funding for more research and a cure. As part of that process, George Sourlis has organized a Saturday double-header basketball benefit at R-FH in honor of Emily: first, the girls will play Red Bank Regional High School at 1 p.m.; and then the boys will play Middletown South at 3 p.m. "We will sell t-shirts, have a 50/50, free throw contests, offer information about POTS …
