Expect Power By Wednesday, Says Little Silver Mayor

As the borough contends with Sandy's aftermath, a 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. curfew has been implemented until further notice.

A message from Little Silver Mayor Robert C. Neff, Jr. on the borough Web sit on Nov. 1: To our residents, friends and neighbors: Little Silver was blessed with little or no injury to emergency workers and residents during the storm, but suffered some significant property destruction from downed trees and flood waters. Several homes were destroyed or badly damaged, and we have residents who have been displaced from their homes, some for an extended period of rebuilding. So certain rules have been put in place to ensure that property is protected and residents remain as safe as possible. As we all work to pick up the pieces, and to navigate the extended power outage, please consider that our police, public works, fire, EMS, fire police, and…

I realize that there are many very serious issues around and this may sound a little selfish but someone has to ask the question - why does it seem Little Silver takes longer to get back up? Parts of Oceanport and Long Branch already have power. Last year there were LS neighborhoods out for 6 days for Irene, much longer than most.   more ›

HURRICANE SANDY: JCP&L Says it Learned From Its Mistakes

Stresses storm may knock out power for 7-10 days

Jersey Central Power and Light (JCP&L) President Don Lynch says the company has learned from the mistakes it made from Hurricane Irene and is ready for Hurricane Sandy and the threat it poses to the state. The company took heat when Hurricane Irene left many New Jersey towns without power for days - and, in some cases, weeks. Many thought JCP&L's response was too slow. The biggest lesson learned is getting the information out to customers and municipalities as specifically, quickly and often as possible, Lynch said. The company wants its customers to know as much information as possible, he said. "Just know that Jersey Central will be working hard day and night - we've already started, should that storm hit shore here and cause outages …
