Chachko, Drazin Recognized at Oceanport Sports Foundation Event

Proceeds from the fourth annual event go to support town sports.

More than 300 people turned out at Branches on Thursday night for the Oceanport Sports Foundation gala holiday wine and food tasting. The event featured samplings from area restaurants such as Drew's Bayshore Bistro, Johnny Piancones and CJ McLoones. LaRosa's Bakery was on hand serving up cannolis, and the students and faculty from Brookdale's Culinary Education Center were there cooking, baking and pouring samples of wine. This is the fourth year of the event, the proceeds of which go mainly toward improvements of town sports facilities, such as the roller hockey rink at Blackberry Bay Park and the tennis courts at Trinity Park. Oceanport Sports Foundation Announces 2012 Grant Awards

The fundraising arm for many borough activities distributed over $20,000 to local sports organizations.

The Oceanport Sports Foundation has approved $20,675 in grants to local sports organizations as part of its annual Grant Program process.  Established in 2002 by fourteen community-minded individuals who wanted to improve the Borough of Oceanport’s athletic fields and facilities, the Oceanport Sports Foundation remains committed to improving the quality of youth recreational sports within the borough. This year’s grant recipients are: Oceanport Baseball Association The Oceanport Baseball Association was awarded a grant of $7,500 in connection with its renovation of the two baseball/softball fields located behind Maple Place School.  Oceanport’s recreation baseball and softball programs use these fields almost exclusively and the much …
