The Little Silver middle school received average and high performing marks compared to peer schools.
Markham Place received higher marks than most schools across the state, according to data released by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) last week. When compared to peer schools, Markham Place received average and high-performing scores. The state's new performance reports, which replace the school report cards issued in past years, rates schools on standardized test results, college and career readiness and student growth at the middle school level. The performance report looks at a school's ranking compared to the rest of the state and to a peer group with a similar demographic. Parent-teacher conferences will force half-days Thursday and Friday
Markham Place and Point Road School students will resume regular schedules Tuesday after attending classes on a split schedule Monday due to continued problems at Point Road. However, students will only resume a full schedule after nearly two weeks of inactivity on Tuesday and Wednesday, with early dismissals Thursday and Friday for parent-teacher conferences, Superintendent Carolyn Kossack announced Monday evening. Appellate Division affirms ruling by administrative law judge
The family of former Markham Place Middle School Principal Donald Merce is not entitled to accidental death benefits following his tragic death in a motor vehicle accident in May 2008, the Appellate Division ruled Tuesday. The decision affirms the ruling of an administrative law judge who determined that Merce was not performing his duties as principal when he was struck and killed by motorist Dennis Smentkowski of Tinton Falls en route on Oceanport Avenue to the Little Silver school four years ago.
