PHOTOS: Technology Showcase Gives Glimpse into 21st Century Classrooms

Little Silver invited parents of students from both schools to see what gadgets and gizmos their children are using in the classroom.

When I was a journalism major in college in the late 80s, we literally cut and pasted articles in class that we had typed up on electric typwriters in the center of the room. How amazing is it then that a scant 25 years later, children in kindergarten classrooms are working on laptops with programs like ToonDo and Storybirds to develop phonemic, writing and comprehension skills. The Little Silver School District showed off all the technolgy that students in both schools work with each day -- from Movie Maker and SMART Boards to Medibotics -- at the Technology Showcase on Feb. 28 at Point Road School. What Makes an iKid? Come to Technology Showcase and Find Out

The Little Silver School District will host a Technology Showcase on Feb. 28 and let kids show parents all the gizmos they work with in school.

There's still room to take part in Little Silver School District's Techonolgy Showcase on Feb. 28 and see how our kids are becoming iKids and global citizens through the infusion of technology in the curriculum. The district will sponsor an interactive evening at Point Road School for students to show off what they use in the classroom and how all the gadgets and gizmos can be used at home. Parents will accompany their children through nine stations, but with just 20 computers per location, the district asks that parents limit attendance to one child per parent. The two-hour event, billed as "An evening of 21st Century Learning," is district wide and open to parents with students in grades Pre-K through 8. The showcase begins at 6:30 p.m. …
