Red Bank Regional's Varisty Hockey team fell 4-0 to top-seeded Ramsey on Sunday.
It was a "Cinderella story," the team that had to fight its way into the state tournament only to defeat the 8th and 9th seeded teams. But then, it lost its proverbial slipper. That's what happened for the Red Bank Regional varsity hockey team on Sunday when it came up against top-seeded Ramsey in the quarterfinal round of the Public B state tournament, losing 4-0, and ending the team's winning season. "They gave it everything they had," said Sharyn Lynch, whose son Brian is a sophomore on the team. "We could not be prouder of the terrific run they experienced." Senior goalie A.J. Ostrander made 43 saves for Red Bank, according to NJ.com. The game was played at the Ice Vault in Wayne, NJ. Red Bank, seeded 25th going into tournament play, …

The Bucs only had nine players in the game due to illness and injuries. Rumson-Fair Haven reigns supreme in neighborly ice war, launching 40 shots on Red Bank in Saturday's game.
The Rumson-Fair Haven Bulldogs (3-0) defeated the Red Bank Regional Buccaneers (0-3) by a score of 4-1 in a high school hockey matchup at Red Bank Armory Ice Complex Saturday. The Bulldogs took control of the puck early in the game, pounding RBR goalie Charlie Fox with 16 shots in the first period. Fox stepped up and stopped them all, but the Bucs struggled to get the puck out of their zone long enough to generate any scoring chances. RFH kept the Bucs from getting a single shot on goalie Sam Adkinson in the first. It was exactly what Rumson-Fair Haven Coach Chris McCaffery was looking for from his team. "Offensively we cycle the puck, keep the puck in their zone, keep them on the defensive, and I think we did that pretty much the whole …

The Toms River East Raiders (1-0) came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the Red Bank Regional Buccaneers (0-1) by a score of 5-4 as both teams opened their seasons Saturday as the Red Bank Armory Ice Complex. Red Bank put together an early lead as junior Joe Franco scored twice in the first and once in the second for the first hat trick of the season. "The first goal was right off the faceoff, so I just got a kind of lucky bounce through the kid's legs," said Franco, assisted by Sam Marascio on the play. "The second one was on a breakaway, I faked a shot with my backhand and it went right in. The last one was a backdoor, nothing there but a great pass," said Franco, who was assisted by Joe DelSordo on both goals. RBR goalie Charlie Fox …
