The original contract has run out and must go out to bid again.
The Suneagles Golf Course and Gibbs Hall could be under new management this spring. Both are owned by the Army which is temporarily leasing the property to the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA), the authority that oversees the redevelopment of the fort from Army installation to civilian properties. For more than a year now Atlantic Golf has managed the Eatontown course. It subcontracts the banquet facilities management to McLoone's. The successful bidder for the contract will pay FMERA $10,000 per quarter to reimburse it for the cost of leasing it from the Army. The Army has extended it's lease to FMERA for an additional 18 months. FMERA officials say they hope to sell off the property to a private owner in the near …

Fort redevelopers expect an at least six month lease extension from Army.
Atlantic Golf Management will likely get six more months added to its contract to operate the Army-owned Suneagles Golf Course. The board of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitaliztion Authority announced Wednesday that the Army has agreed to an extension of the lease it has with the redevelopment authority for the golf course. The extension would be for a minimum of six months or until the property is conveyed to FMERA, which will in turn sell the property. Under the terms of the lease FMERA has contracted out the management of the formerly military only golf course to a private company, in this case, Atlantic Golf, which took over operations last summer. The company's one-year contract is set to expire at the end of September. The golf …

The restaurant group will open its newest location at Gibbs Hall for catering.
McLoone's Restaurants will kick off a new banquet service at Gibbs Hall at the Suneagles Golf Course in Eatontown this weekend. The restaurant and catering outfit will host the Greater Red Bank NAACP Freedom Fund annual luncheon on Saturday. McLoone's signed a contract for the venue with Atlantic Golf Management Inc. in early November. At this location, McLoone's will offer banquet services in Gibbs Hall, and once it secures a liquor license, dining services at Sal's Tavern, adjacent to the course. Atlantic Golf has a one year contract to operate the golf course, which began Sept. 30. McLoone's will be able to operate Gibbs Hall until that time next year. Helen Doyle, vice president of development for McLoone's Restaurants, said that if …

Suneagles Golf Course predates Fort Monmouth and will return to its civilian roots in September.
Last week, the people in charge of redeveloping Fort Monmouth put out a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the maintenence and management of the Suneagles Golf Course and its restaurant and banquet facilities. According to officials, when the fort closes on Sept. 15 the golf course will continue to operate under a new management firm. Amidst the legal jargon and technical aspects of the 50-page document is an interesting historical profile of the golf course, which predates the fort itself. Patch has included the history here in its entirety. According to the RFP, written by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority, sometime in the early 1920s, Max Phillips of the famed Phillips Van Heusen Clothing Company of New York City and the …
With the Army relinquishing control, officials are hoping for a "transparent transition" for players at the fort golf course.
Golf courses have long been as much about business and friendship as they have recreation and competition, a casual place where business people build client relationships and close deals. Here at the Suneagles Golf Course within the confines of Fort Monmouth, the gentle rolling greens mean even more to the military men and women who play here - camaraderie and economy. As a small perk for their service to their country, active military, veterans and retirees play at the course for substantially lower rates than the public. There are also discounts for Department of Defense civilians and contractors. Last week, the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA), which will oversee the conveyance and redevelopment of the fort, …
