Flu season is here, with activity considered "widespread" in 47 of 50 states.  New Jersey is seeing "intense" activity right now, while New York has declared a public health emergency after reported cases reached epidemic levels. Where To Get A Flu Shot, Administered By The County Health Dept.

The Monmouth County Health Department will offer flu shots to county residents at 22 different locations now through late October.

The Monmouth County Health Department is offering flu shots now through late October. “Generally speaking, anyone over six months of age can receive the seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine,” said Freeholder Director John P. Curley, liaison to the Health Department. “We strongly urge anyone at risk of flu-related complications to get the seasonal vaccine from the county Health Department or your health care provider.” At the clinics, Monmouth County residents will pay $25 for the seasonal influenza vaccine. The vaccines are free to seniors with Medicare Part B. Accepted insurance companies are Aetna, Humana, Medicare RR and United Mine Workers of America. Monmouth Park Offering $6 Flu Shots This Weekend

Nurses from Monmouth Medical Center, Monmouth County Board of Health and Monmouth Park medical staff to administer shots at the racetrack Nov. 4-6.

If you haven't gotten your flu shot yet, there is a bargain to be had this weekend at Monmouth Park, where you can get a shot of prevention against the nasty trifecta of symptoms that come with the contagious respiratory illness for only $6. Beginning on Friday, Nov. 4 and ending on Sunday, Nov. 6, nurses from Monmouth Medical Center, the Monmouth County Board of Health and the Monmouth Park medical staff will be on hand at the racetrack to administer the shots. "This is truly a great gift to the loyal Monmouth Park fans," said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, Medical Director for the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.
