The education foundation fundraiser drew over 300 supporters to the Shadowbrook on Friday night.
They sambaed. They mamboed. They tangoed. And on Friday night, seven couples helped raise thousands of dollars to fund the Little Silver School District's technology initiative at the Education Foundation's Dancing With the Stars fundraiser that drew over 300 supporters. Held at the Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury, the event featured a dance competition that pit parents and school staff against each other to vie for the silver ball trophy. Tabitha and Joe Pia -- who nabbed a perfect score from judges Mayor Robert Neff, Jr., dance teacher LB Kass and Patch Editor Amy Byrnes -- went on to garner the most votes from party goers and took home the evening's trophy. The Little Silver Education Foundation has enlisted seven couples to samba, tango and sashay their way to raising money for the district's technology initiatives in Friday's Dancing With the Stars fundraiser. Besides practicing for weeks to prepare for the stiff competition, dancers also sat down for interviews with students from Markham Place students that were captured on video. We posted the first round of interviews on Wednesday and are following up with videos of Kristen and Greg Galante, Carolyn and Eric Wasserfall, Tabitha and Joe Pia and Julie Ford and her "Mystery" partner.

The Little Silver Education Foundation has enlisted seven couples to samba, tango and sashay their way to raising money for the district's technology initiatives in Friday's Dancing With the Stars fundraiser. Besides practicing for weeks to prepare for the stiff competition, dancers also sat down for interviews with students from Markham Place students that were captured on video. Patch will feature a few couples each day leading up to the March 8 event.

Put on your dancing shoes Little Silver because the Education Foundation wants to boogie with you.
The Education Foundation of Little Silver hopes to samba its way towards raising money for the district's technology needs at next month's "Dancing With the Stars" event at the Shadowbrook in Shrewsbury. The March 8 fundraiser will pit seven couples -- made up of both parents and teachers -- against each other on the dance floor with judges and the audience voting on the best dancers and the winners of the silver ball trophy. The couples -- two of which are made up of teachers -- will compete in a dance-off with performances lasting no more than two minutes apiece. Each pair is sponsored by a local dance school that has provided rehearsal space as well as assistance with choreography and music. It will be up to the event's three judges -- …
