The Economic Development Authority disputes recent statements made by Oceanport Councilman Joseph Irace.
The Economic Development Authority (EDA) disputes a local official's stance on the relocation of CommVault to Fort Monmouth property in the Feburary issue of "The Fort." "I felt compelled to set the record straight on the state’s financial incentive programs and provide information on the built-in safeguards the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) utilizes to protect the public interest," says Tim Lizura, president and chief operating officer for the EDA, in the monthly newsletter produced by the Fort Monmouth Economic Redevelopment Authority (FMERA). Earlier this month, Oceanport Councilman Joseph Irace spoke out publicly against FMERA's alleged wooing of the borough's second-largest employer to relocate to fort property in …

A letter from Oceanport Councilman Joseph Irace: You have probably noticed that the redevelopment of Fort Monmouth has been back in the news with CommVault’s move out of Oceanport and into Tinton Falls. There have been a lot of glowing press releases issued by the Fort Monmouth Economic Redevelopment Authority (FMERA) and local and state officials. Each one of these press releases trumpeted the positive short and long term impact that this move will have on the Fort’s redevelopment and to the community at large. Indeed, the press releases spoke of the virtues of this move and the many thousands of jobs that would be created by CommVault as the result of its relocation from Oceanport to Tinton Falls. Depending on whose press release you …

CommVault now allowed to begin construction process
The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) and CommVault have closed on a deal that will bring the software company from Oceanport to Tinton Falls property on Fort Monmouth. Tinton Falls Mayor Michael Skudera said the deal was finalized on Tuesday afternoon and that the transfer of the property is complete. "I signed off on the final paperwork last week, the county did the same," Skudera said in an email to Patch. Skudera said CommVault is expected to start its initial site work in the next several weeks. He added that a ground-breaking ceremony will also take place in the "not too distant future." The deal between FMERA and CommVault is the first sale of property at the fort. The sale price of $5.9 million, down from a …

County says it hopes to open the facility in the spring of 2013.
Dormant now for more than a year, Fort Monmouth's Teen Center and its pool in Tinton Falls will see new life next year under the ownership of Monmouth County. This week the Fort Monmouth Economic Revilatization Authority approved the transfer of the property to the county under a Notice of Interest program, where the Army conveys a property to an entity at no cost, for the good of the public. Freeholder Lillian Burry, who is a member of the board of FMERA, thanked the board for its approval of the NOI and said the facility will be regional. "We're anxious to have it opened and functioning in late spring," she said. Though the county won't pay for the property directly, it will come with costs. As part of FMERA's developer agreement with …
Proceeds will be split between the Army and FMERA, which will reinvest the funds into the redevelopment of the fort.
Officials have accepted a deal with Oceanport's largest company to build its new headquarters on Fort Monmouth property of Tinton Falls. The deal will be the first sale of property at the fort. Fort redevelopers Wednesday night passed an amendment to a purchase-sale agreement with CommVault for a parcel of land in in the Charles Wood section of Tinton Falls where the data management firm will build it's new global headquarters. The property sale is set to close sometime in January at a sale price of $5.9 million, down from a previously agreed price of $6.1 million. The reduction is reportedly due to increased costs CommVault took on in its due diligence process, bringing in engineers of various fields to inspect the property. The Fort …

The Tinton Falls Borough Council introduces an ordinance that allows the high-tech biz to pay the municipality through a PILOT program when it moves to Fort Monmouth next year.
The Tinton Falls Council is taking the steps needed to bring CommVault from Oceanport to the Tinton Falls section of Fort Monmouth. CommVault is a data protection firm located at 2 Crescent Pl. in Oceanport that will be moving to parcel E in Tinton Falls. The parcel was once the site of Army housing, but a resolution passed by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) in April will allow the company to build a new facility to house its 500 employees. The Tinton Falls Council introduced an ordinance during its Tuesday night meeting that will finalize a financial agreement between CommVault and the borough that will incorporate a payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) program for the business. A PILOT is money a property owner …

Oceanport councilman says the borough got "the short end of the stick" in the recent deal to move CommVault to Fort Monmouth property in Tinton Falls.
I’d like to take a few moments to talk about recent matters involving the re-development of Fort Monmouth. In particular the move of CommVault from Oceanport to Tinton Falls While there are many out there praising CommVault's move, I have no praise for this move at all. Simply speaking, taking jobs from Oceanport and relocating them to Tinton Falls leaves Oceanport short 550 jobs. It also leaves our second largest taxpayer with an empty building to fill and, it takes the consumer dollars of 550 employees from our local economy. Relocating the 550 workers who currently work at CommVault in Oceanport is just that – RELOCATION of jobs, not job creation. According to press releases by local politicians and FMERA, representations have been …

Oceanport mayor casts lone dissenting vote on resolution that accommodates the business's move.
CommVault, a software and data management company located at 2 Crescent Pl. in Oceanport, will be leaving the borough after agreeing to lease property on former Fort Monmouth property. Mayors from Tinton Falls and Eatontown supported the resolution while Oceanport Mayor Michael Mahon cast the only dissenting vote. The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) passed a resolution during Tuesday night's meeting in Eatontown that will allow the company to lease parcel E in Tinton Falls. The parcel was once the site of Army housing. Four proposals for the property were sent to FMERA, one commercial and three residential, but CommVault received the highest score of the applicants and was chosen for the property. The plan is to now…

You can read more about the potential deal and background of the corporation here. On Monday the Fort Monmouth Revitalization Authority posted on its Web site plans to move its regularly scheduled meeting this week in anticipation of the deal. "We're not in the business of stealing jobs," say fort redevelopers.
Fort redevelopers and CommVault, a large and growing corporation based in Oceanport, may soon enter negotiations for a property in the Tinton Falls section of Fort Monmouth, a move which could keep more than 500 jobs here in New Jersey. According to the agenda for Wednesday's meeting of the board of the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA), the redevelopment authority plans to enter exclusive negotiations for the sale of parcel E in Tinton Falls. The international data management firm that employs 540 people at its Oceanport global headquarters flies largely under the community radar. The company is tucked away off Eatontown Boulevard in an area that is mainly a pass through to Route 36. CommVault recently came into the …

"Will the retention of this employer really have any impact on businesses from other states coming here?" Probably more than Irace and the Mayor acting like petulant children in the press every time the subject of Ft Monmouth comes up will, since probably the last thing anyone wishing to invest in their future would want anything to do with the toxic environment this windmill tilting is creating…   more ›
