A funeral for Jillian Dinger will be on Wednesday at Church of the Nativity in Fair Haven.
The Fair Haven college student who died as a result of a collision with a car on Harding Road in Little Silver early on the morning of April 6, will be buried Wednesday. Jillian Teresa Dinger who was a recent graduate of Rumson Fair Haven High School was a freshman this year at SUNY Albany. Her funeral arrangements are being handled by the John E. Day Funeral Home in Red Bank, which will hold visitation hours on Tuesday. Michael J. Sayko, 49, of Howell Township died at home on April 3 after battling cancer. Sayko was born in Summit, NJ and raised in Charlotte, NC, and had lived in Little Silver before settling to Howell in 1988. He was a 1985 graduate of St. Andrew’s College, Laurinburg, NC and the owner of Triad Research in Howell. Prior to that, he had worked for Computer Sciences Corp. in Eatontown. Sayko was an active parishioner of St. Veronica’s Catholic Church. He volunteered as a County Committee Member, Voting District 17 and coached girls soccer for the Pinelanders for many years. Ann Falvo Mihlon, 76, a 47 year resident of Little Silver, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center after a brief illness. Born and raised in Red Bank, Ann is predeceased by her parents, Peter W. Falvo (1962 Mayor of Red Bank) and Viola Fichter Falvo of Sea Bright. Ann was a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked for several years as a Dental Hygienist. Ann was an active member of the Little Silver Woman’s Club as well as the local Board of Health and St. John’s Episcopal Church in Little Silver. She began her career as a Dispatcher for the Little Silver Police Department in 1980 and served with distinction until her retirement in 2010. John Shaw, a former pro and mentor at the Little Silver Tennis Club, died Jan. 14.
John M. Shaw, age 54, died Jan. 14 at his residence in Aberdeen. Born in Hammonton, NJ, Shaw, a Tennis Pro, was a graduate of Saint Joseph's High School in Hammonton, and Upsula College in North Jersey. He was also a well-known tennis instructor in Monmouth County. Shaw is predeceased by his parents, Walter L. Shaw and Marie C. Shaw. Surviving Shaw are sisters; Eleanor Caruso and husband Anthony, Elaine Sacco and husband Peter III, Marie Passalaqua and husband Vince, Charlotte Santilli and husband John and brothers; Paul J. and Walter F. Shaw and wife Meloney. Burial services are private at the convenience of the family. Residents reflect on the life of Mayor Suzanne Castleman, who died Friday at the age of 76
Little Silver lost a good friend and staunch advocate for the community on Friday night with the passing of Mayor Suzanne Caslteman. Many in Little Silver have fond memories of the lifelong Little Silver resident who raised her two daughters Ann and Elizabeth with husband Don in the community she loved. Castleman served on Borough Council from 1984-1994 acting as a representative to the Shade Tree Commission, Recreation Committee, Library Board, Personnel Committee and as Police Commissioner during that time. She has been Mayor of Little Silver since 1994. Castleman is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Castleman-Halpin, and Anne Connell, and four grandchildren, Brook Connell, Erin Connell, Connor Halpin, and Noelle Halpin.
Suzanne Castleman, a lifelong resident of Little Silver, had served in town government for 27 years.

Castleman, 76, was a lifelong resident of the borough who gave 27 years of service to her community government. She has served as mayor since 1994, and was on council prior to that, beginning in 1984. "Mayor Suzy," as she was known, served on the Shade Tree Commission, Recreation Committee, Library Board, Personnel Committee and as Police Commissioner while in council. Prior to council, she volunteered for the Little Silver Recreation Committee and PTO, and taught field hockey to grade school children, according to the borough web site. An American flag was suspended from the ladders of fire trucks from Shrewsbury and Long Branch this morning to honor former fire chief of Little Silver Frank Ambrosino, who passed away on May 10, 2011. Frank was an ex-chief and ex-president of the Little Silver Fire Department and a life member of the Little Silver Fire and First Aid Departments. Frank was a member of the Knights of Columbus' Red Bank Council and coached the Little Silver Women’s Softball. He was also an avid golfer who always enjoyed a golf outing with his friends.
