Volunteers Sort Through Debris of Parker Homestead Barns

Members of the Parker Homestead Committee worked through last week's heat and humidity to clear out the barns and begin planning for restoration.

Little Silver Mayor Robert Neff, Jr. e-mailed a photo to Patch earlier this week that he took of borough volunteers working through the sticky July heat and humidity to clear out the barns of the Parker Homestead.

Members of the Parker Homestead Committee were pulling out the "decades of debris" from the three barns for three days last week, said Neff (along with some "hired muscle"),  to clear the way for professionals to begin coming up with plans to restore the sagging structures.

More details and pictures are available on the new Parker Homestead Web site, developed by committee member Liz Hanson, that gives lots of great background on the project and upcoming plans.

The mayor pointed out in his e-mail all the "hard work" the committee, chaired by Monte Edwards, has brought to the project.
