More than 1,000 Walk to End Hunger

The Red Bank CROP Walk took place over the weekend and raised tens of thousands of dollars to help fight hunger.

With the goal of ending hunger worldwide, an estimated crowd of about 1,000 people turned out for the 31st annual Red Bank CROP Walk to End Hunger this past weekend.

According to event organizer Janie Schildge, about 900 registrants, together with dozens of volunteers, walked – or ran – the five miles from Red Bank Regional High School through Little Silver, parts of Fair Haven, and downtown Red Bank this past Sunday.

Last year, the event raised more than $120,000 and about 11,000 pounds of food to be distributed to area soup kitchens, like in Red Bank, and food pantries throughout the region.
