The #1 Thing You Should Do If Your Dog Develops Cancer

How you can help your loved pet have a better fighting chance against cancer.

Cancer ... the awful word that makes your heart sink to the bottom of your stomach when you hear it.

Unfortunately, it's increasing at alarming rates and can strike any breed at any time, just like in humans. However, many breeds are more susceptible to certain types of cancers simply due to no fault of their own, due to genetics.

This is why it's extremely important to start your dog on the healthiest diet as early as possible, especially when your loved furry companion is a target for cancer.

Commonly, after being diagnosed, many are advised to turn to traditional medicines and procedures in hopes to reverse it but, interestingly, many pet owners still stick to the same diet their dog has been on before being diagnosed and solely depend on chemo and radiation treatments.

Sometimes these procedures work but sometimes they don’t. There is one thing that all holistic practitioners will agree upon that can alter the prognosis significantly in you and your dog’s favor. Change your dog's diet immediately!

What is known is that cancer cells multiple and thrive in acidic environments and that is mainly determined by what you have been feeding your dog. Many processed foods containing lots of carbohydrates, bad grains (corn, wheat, soy), sugars, artifical colors & flavors and chemical preservatives are contributing factors that will alter your dog's internal ph levels to become more acidic.

However, there are some proteins, vegetables and fruits that are considered acidic as well. So, what you feed your dog daily and how much daily moisture they get in their diets, especially after being diagnosed, can greatly impact the outcome.

For dogs, a body ph level below 6.9 is considered acidic as 7 is considered neutral. So, when cancer has plagued your pet, your dog’s body ph levels are more acidic then.

But when ph levels rise above 7.4, cancer cells become dormant and when ph levels reach close or over 8.5, the cancer cells will perish. This then allows healthy cells to rebuild themselves naturally; making your dog's immune system much stronger.

So, what kinds of foods are considered more alkaline to alter the ph levels within your dog's body?

BEST PROTEINS: Chicken, Turkey, Lamb, Venison, Cold Water Fresh Ocean Fish

BEST OILS: Organic Flax, Coconut & Olive Oils

BEST RAW VEGETABLES: Broccoli, Cauliflower, Pumpkin, Sweet Potato, Squash, Green Beans, Alfalfa,

BEST FRUITS (with minimal servings): Papaya, Apples, Pears, Strawberries, Melons, Coconut, Watermelon, Mangoes

In addition, it is extremely important to feed your pet WHOLESOME foods that still have the natural moisture intact and not over cooked.  This process will destroy a lot of the natural enzymes, vital vitamins and minerals, should you choose not to feed a raw food diet to your pet.

Give your pet more of a fighting chance against cancer ... know what you're feeding and how to feed for a healthier pet for years to come.

kill it. save the money the vet would charge you and donate it to feed hungry children. it is silly not to mention selfish to prolong the life of an animal. crazy. it is sad and misguided that there are people in this country without health care and some lunatics are treating dogs for cancer!!!!

Brian, many of us that own pets, see them as part of the family. I think if you were an animal lover and had that special bond with a domesticated pet, perhaps your response would be different. With regards to your statement about donating to starving children when this blog was about pets with cancer, for your information, I personally do donate to starving children and to other organizations such as the Susan G. Komen, Wounded Warriors; to name a few. I do what I can and pray one day it can make a difference. So if I find anything "silly", it's your comment as I do choose, as a pet owner, to provide the best for my pets but never forgetting about other fellow Americans in need. Lastly, to bring up the notion about people in this country without healthcare, I think you really should direct your concerns with the state and federal officials that allow illegal immigrants full healthcare at no cost to them, but rather flipping the bill to the tax paying American. If you want to call anything "misguided and sad", I think that truly is and recommend that you, as an American, vote this upcoming election.

Wow Brian. I pray you and your pets never develop Cancer. As a cat owner, I would focus on doing everything I can to help my cat. I would focus on what I was feeding her. I would try & prolong her life with healthy, holistic cat food. Some types of Cancer's are curable. So to suggest to kill your pet because it has Cancer is utterly ridicolous.

Brian, my prayer is much more that you don't own any "pets" let alone have one that becomes ill. What an asinine post to leave on an obvious page dedicated to furkids and their owners. I get this distinct feeling you're the living-at-home-in-mom's-basement type. Thank you for your ignorant comment reaffirming that I LOVE my FURKIDS more than I like most humans.

Wow all I can say is I hope Brian is NOT a pet owner!

Brian, The only thing I agree with is that our economy is lousy. However, why would you even bother to read a blog that advocates for animals if you have no intentions of "bothering" to save your pet. In your eyes I am misguided. In MY EYES YOU ARE IGNORANT! I pray you dont have any pets. I also wish there was a law to prevent you from having children at all. How do you explain to them, Oh, Sorry kids the dog is sick so your dumb daddy killed it.
Christie S September 21, 2012 at 07:01 PM
Oh Richard....obviously you could understand my terminology, I'm not understanding your concern. Yes I consider my well cared for and well provided for "pets" to be my furkids. Pull yourself out from under the rock you're dwelling under, I didn't invent the term....I just embrace it. Truly Christian like response you had there. I'll pray for you too...for understanding and compassion to find you. In the meantime....simmer down cupcake.

Best thing you can do for your dog is to "raw feed " him/her ...dogs are carnivorous not grain eaters ....you can feed a dog bones and all a thigh I personally take the skin off ....do not feed cooked bones as they tend to splinter . google raw feeding dogs ....you dog will love you for it ......Purina will hate you

YIkes! Hopefully, Brian doesn't come in contact with any animals on a regular basis. Of course, everything Brian does is "absolutely the right thing to do". Which, by the way is different for everyone.... Why the harsh negative comment on the topic you obviously have no interest in supporting? Done with all your charitable duties for the day??? Do not assume that any human that is taking responsibility for another life (no matter what form it takes) is misguided. You are not coming across as compassionate, at all, just because you mention children and healthcare. Ignorant and rude is more like it... Hopefully you never have to deal with cancer. In any way. Because it's awful. Good luck maintaining your place on the food chain, with the attitude you have it may not be so easy.....Good Luck.

Dentss - Thank you for reading our blog. You are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT! This is why we carry all frozen raw foods from Primal, Bravo & Stella & Chewys and educate our customers as much as we can about how critical it is to CORRECTLY feed a pet!

Obviously Brian is a selfish cold hearted ignorant person who would NOT deserve the love of any animal anyway! Hoping by his annoying comment that it means he doesn't share his life with any animals
