Who's Talking Trash Now?

A fun, successful e-waste and clothing drive. Interested in having one in your town? Email me and we'll talk trash!

Many friends and neighbors came out to talk trash and recycling - well, they mostly stayed in their cars while the Rescue Mission of Trenton team in burgundy went to work, quickly and efficiently unloading vehicles of unwanted clothing and electronics.

On September 24th, the Little Silver Environmental Commission conducted its first e-waste and used clothing drive which was a big hit with both the local community and the charity running the operation.

“This is wonderful – cleaning up the environment and giving to the needy” said Kevin Martinez after dropping off some items for donation.

“I appreciate the fact I can just pull up” commented Nora Monahan of Home Town Design as she came through with her second trip of the day.  Monahan was not the only resident making multiple visits to happily recycle unwanted items.  “This is a lot more convenient then taking things to the dump as I’ve done in the past” mentioned Nancy Lewis.

Abby Daly, Founder and Executive Director of the Bridge of Books Foundation, is usually on the collecting side of the fence, gathering used children's books for distribution throughout the state.  Finally, the shoe was on the other foot as she supplied numerous bags of clothing to the cause.

Not only were the donors happy during the event, the recipients were thrilled with the results.  The drive generated an exceptional amount of items for recycling – “our best one-day event ever”, said Douglas Liebau, Director of Entrepreneurial & Training for the Rescue Mission of Trenton.

All proceeds from the drive went to support the programs and men who are serviced by the Mission.

Look for another chance to clean out those closets this coming spring. For more information, or if you have friends in other towns interested in conducting a drive, please contact me at smurray@wastenotsolutions.com
