47% of the garbage in Monmouth County is made up of...

Take out the paper and the trash!

PAPER!  Yes, that’s right.  And how do we define “paper” anyhow?

For recycling purposes in Monmouth County, paper can be segregated into three basic categories:

  • Newspaper
  • Corrugated Cardboard (waffle section between layers of cardboard)
  • Mixed or Miscellaneous Paper (colored and white paper including school papers, letterhead, envelopes, junk mail, phone books, soft cover books, chipboard (material used to make items such as cereal boxes, gift boxes, shoe boxes, gift boxes, pasta boxes, toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls and wrapping paper rolls)

And paper is a MANDATED RECYCLABLE.

But how do we recycle paper?

Well, it depends.  Depends on the town and depends on whether you are using curbside or drop-off recycling.
