West Long Branch Police: Expect Heavy Traffic on July 4th

Police expect heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic due to the annual 4th of July fireworks Wednesday night.

The annual West Long Branch fireworks on the 4th of July will create heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the borough, according to police.

The event will begin at Franklin Lake Park on Locust Avenue on Wednesday, July 4 at 7 p.m. with a concert by Greaseband. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.

West Long Branch Police say traffic will be detoured around the event and all eastbound traffic on Highway 36 will be detoured down Broadway.

"Remember to follow directions of traffic officers, detour signs and abide by all parking regulations," West Long Branch Police warned in a Nixle message. "Use caution and exercise extra awareness while driving."

The fireworks are set off from the parking lot and can be seen best from the Locust Avenue side of Franklin Lake. This causes pedestrian traffic to be heaviest in this area, and it will be blocked off by police.
