The end of the summer is not usually anybody's favorite time of the year.

However, in Oceanport, the Summer's End Festival is many residents' favorite part of the summer.

The festival will be held on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Blackberry Bay Park from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a rain date of Sept. 8.

There will be tournaments, fireworks, music and children's activities throughout the day.

A horseshoe and corn hole tournament will be held before the festival from 3 to 5 p.m. To register to participate in these tournaments call Lee Poole at 908-433-6973 or Jim Gallo 732-921-8025.

Hot air balloon rides will be available between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the Kortney Rose Foundation.

Fireworks will begin at 8:30 p.m. or shortly thereafter.

Other festivities will include a performance by RPM, food vendors, civic organizations, a climbing wall, singing by the Shore Players, balloon art, face painters, a dance demonstration, a karate demonstration and moon walks for children.

The event is sponsored by Oceanport Residents, Oceanport Parks & Recreation, Community Sponsors to be listed at the Summer’s End Festival and Saint Barnabas Health Care System- Monmouth Medical Center and TD Bank.
