Say Good-Bye to Summer this Weekend at Oceanport Festival

The annual Summer's End Festival at Blackberry Bay Park will feature fireworks and firetruck rides and the opportunity to knock a councilman, or maybe a BOE member, into a dunk tank.

It's a bittersweet time in Oceanport with the Summer's End Festival scheduled for this weekend, which squeezes the last bit of fun out of summer activities while signaling the end of carefree days and late nights.

The annual event, sponsored by the borough in conjunction with the Oceanport Parks and Recreation Committee, is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 8 from 5 to 9 p.m. at with Sunday earmarked as the rain date.

While there are fireworks slated to go off around sunset, there are plenty of activities to keep you busy until then, including hot air balloon tether rides, a live band and fire truck rides sponsored by

The will hand out first aid kits and there will be a volleyball, horse shoe and corn hole tournament. Anyone interested in participating in either of the tournaments can call Lisa Aromando 732-850-5368 for more information.

The Class of 2013 will host a dunk tank featuring the opportunity to douse some of the more familiar faces around Oceanport in the drink, including Councilman Joseph Irace and Oceanport Board of Education President Colin Soyer.
