4th of July in West Long Branch: Fireworks, Concert

Fireworks for 4th of July will continue this year at Franklin Lake in West Long Branch.

West Long Branch residents will continue to see fireworks in the borough this Fourth of July at Franklin Lake.

The long-held holiday tradition will begin with a concert sponsored by the West Long Branch Recreation Commission at 7 p.m. at the gazebo. This year's performers will be the Greaseband, a rock and roll group that plays songs from 50's through the 90's.

The fireworks are slated to begin at dusk, or approximately 9 p.m., so residents should bring their towels or lawn chairs to the lake, so they can sit back and enjoy the show.

Last year's fireworks were funded by donations from Monmouth University, West Long Branch PBA Local 141 and other local businesses.

This year, the borough is paying for the fireworks, so no donations were needed.

The crowd is sure to be larger this year as the Kaboom fireworks in Red Bank have been canceled this year. Residents can also travel to nearby Long Branch to view the fireworks near Pier Village.
