Victorino to Play Two Games With BlueClaws

Team returns to FirstEnergy Park for seven-game stretch.

The Lakewood BlueClaws announced on Thursday that the Memorial Day Weekend could feature even more fireworks than originally anticipated with the temporary addition of a big bat.

Major League right fielder Shane Victorino will play two rehab games with the BlueClaws before his expected return to the Phillies roster. Victorino will be with the team on Saturday and Sunday for the 7:05 games. He has been out since May 18 with a hamstring injury but already had six homers and 18 RBI before going on the disabled list.

Victorino will join the future Phillies on their home field, welcoming Greensboro to town for four games before Delmarva returns for three games.

There also will be a raffle for concert tickets as well for those fans in attendance. Thursday night the fifth grade chorus from Howell's Land O'Pines Elementary School will also be singing the National Anthem prior to the first pitch.

If you cannot make the fireworks show on Friday, don't worry because the team will be having another dazzling display on Saturday to make up for a rain-out earlier in the year. The first 2,000 fans at the stadium will also get a chance to enter a raffle for tickets to shows like John Legend and Keith Urban at the Prudential Center.

When the Shorebirds come to town on Sunday there will be yet a third fireworks show as well as special characters making appearances at the field for the enjoyment of the younger fans. And don't forget, at Sunday and Monday games all fans 12 and under get a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips and soda.

For those fans who spend their Memorial Day with the BlueClaws, Monday's game will include a chance to go on the field after the 12:05 game and have your picture taken on an official Minor League field.

The home stand wraps up on Tuesday with a third and final game against the affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles when the first 2000 fans will receive posters to commemorate the team's championship season last year. All seniors will also get a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips and soda at the game as well.

Even with their recent string of success, the BlueClaws still find themselves near the bottom of a very competitive Northern Division in the SAL. Sitting at exactly .500 with a 22-22 record, the team is six games behind Hagerstown with their 28-16 mark.

The team will not be home again until June 9th when they will have another seven game stretch on their field with games against West Virginia and Hagerstown.
