Little Movie Port: "Monmouth Park, Opening Day"

Skies threatened rain but horse racing fans were undeterred as they came out for an exciting opener at Monmouth Park last Saturday.

The sky threatened rain as Monmouth Park launched into its 2011 racing season on Saturday, May 14, and rain it did for anyone who made a short-term investment on  the no. 6 horse Sonic Bullet in the second race of the day.

Paying out $60.80 per $2 bet, Sonic Bullet began Saturday with a 20-1 line, which improved to 29-1 by post time. A $2 exacta bet paid $1,896.20 for 6-9, a $1 trifecta on 6-9-8 netted $4,903.40, and a $1 superfecta bet on 6-9-8-7 would have bought you a car at $27,925.50.
