Fun in the Sun at the Little Silver Sports Parade

The Little Silver community gathered on Saturday, May 7th to open the spring sports season with a parade and games

Little Silver Recreation department turned on a great community day on May 7 with its annual sports parade through town.

The softball, baseball and lacrosse teams assembled at the fire house prior to marching through town to the baseball fields on Markham Place.  The sports season was officially opened with the singing of the National Anthem by Eliana Swartz.

The first pitch was thrown by Bobbi Merce, wife of the late Markham Place principal who sadly passed away three years ago on May 6. Don and Bobbi’s daughter Meredith caught the softball lobbed by her mother.

Jeffery Carrano rounded out the formalities with a rendition of Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

Afterwards there were hotdogs and ice-pops for all.  The kids had a great time with a wet sponge ball fight and throwing balls at the dunk tank to dump water on their friends.
