Oceanport schools receive $100k increase in state aid

The district was awarded $272,751 in total aid for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Oceanport school district will receive $272,751 in state school aid as part of a $250 million increase in N.J. educational funding that was announced by Gov. Chris Christie on Feb. 23.

Last year, the governor sharply reduced aid to schools, including several in Monmouth County. Some districts, , saw their state aid eliminated entirely. Oceanport schools, however, received $170,553, which puts the district’s increased funding total at $102,198 for the 2011-2012 school year.

Of the $272,751 total, $239,509 was awarded in Special Education Aid, $21,416 in Adjustment Aid and $11,826 in Security Aid. The district did not receive any Equalized Aid, Education Adequacy Aid, Choice Aid or Transportation Aid.
