Oceanport Police Blotter: Assault With a Deadly Weapon, Theft

The following arrest information was supplied by the Oceanport Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Oceanport police responded to the following incidents last week: 

Monday, July 9

Patrol responded at 5:32 p.m. to the Oceanport Gardens Apartments, 274 E. Main St., on a report of an assault.

Patrols spoke to the victim who stated that a neighbor was having beers in the victim's apartment with her roommate and they got into a verbal altercation. The victim claimed that the neighbor allegedly struck her in her lower back with the back of his hand. There were no visible signs of injury and the victim refused medical attention, police said.

The neighbor was removed from the residence and advised not to return at the victim’s request. Officer William Resnyk III responded to the call and was assisted by Ptl. Michael Perrulli.

Wednesday, July 11

Police responded to Monmouth Park at 9:54 p.m. for a report of an assault with a knife. Jose Navas, 32, of Oceanport was charged with aggravated assault with a Weapon. Officer William Resnyk III responded to the call and was assisted by Detective Michael Fagliarone.

Thursday, July 12

Patrols responded to a Main Street address on a report of a landlord/tenant dispute at 4:40 p.m.

Patrols arrived and spoke to the homeowners, and they said that the tenant was on the premises taking his belongings. The tenant advised patrol that some of his power tools had been stolen. Patrols took the report of the stolen power tools and cleared from the premises. Ptl. Gregory Lauretta responded to the call.
