Oceanport BOE Moving To One Meeting A Month

Meetings will now be held on the fourth Wednesday of every month starting in September.

The Oceanport Board of Education (BOE) is moving to one meeting a month starting in September.

"Our meetings, which used to be held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 7 p.m., will now be held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 7 p.m. beginning in September of 2013," BOE member Jay Coffey said on the Oceanport Residents Facebook page.

Coffey said the board's July meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 31 at 7 p.m. and the August meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 21 at 7 p.m.

"The meeting dates have been changed in order to coordinate our meetings with the West Long Branch (4th Tuesday) and Shore Regional High School (4th Thursday) BOE meetings," Coffey said.

Superintendent Tom Farrell is now being shared by the three districts and will be able to attend all meetings because of the schedule change.

The Oceaport BOE will conduct its committee meetings on Wednesday, July 10 and Wednesday, Aug. 7, Coffey said.

"The Committee Meetings, which are not open to the public, will take the place of what we used to call 'Workshop Meetings'," Coffey said. "The committees, in conjunction with the business administrator and superintendent, one or both of whom will be at the Committee Meetings, will set the meeting agendas at the Committee Meetings."

He said the hope is to have agendas available two Fridays before each BOE meeting once the committee meetings begin.
