Patch ran over to Red Bank Regional on Monday night to check out the dress rehearsal for the pair of operas to be performed this week.
We got there in time to see the beginning of Dido and Aeneas and were positively blown away by the voice of Evangeline Athanasiou who plays the lead. The senior is moving on in the fall to Boston Conservatory of Music where she will continue to study and perform her craft.
Presented by the (RBR) Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) Vocal Majors, the pair of operas-- Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium, and Henry Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas presented consecutively on Tuesday, May 1, and Wednesday, May 2. All performances begin at 7 p.m. in the Red Bank Regional High Theatre located at 101 Ridge Rd.in Little Silver. Tickets are $10 and $5 for students and senior citizens. Tickets may be purchased at the door or by calling 732-842-8000, ext. 227. Large groups are welcome.
