Markham Place Challenge Showcases Talent of Little Silver Students

Students from Markham Place School presented their projects at the annual Challenge Showcase on April 14.

Markham Place Middle School Challenge students presented their projects at the annual Challenge Showcase on April 14.  The Showcase is the culmination of the students’ work on a project of their own choice for the last two marking periods.

The students were required to present a project proposal to a panel, which included both teachers and administrative staff, for approval.  The projects were a reflection of the students’ interests and were extremely varied.  Thursday night’s showcase was an opportunity for the parents to see the finished projects.

The projects included robotic surgery, Greek mythology and the building an Easy-Bake oven. Some of the crowd pleasing projects included those with food samples such as the cola tasting, pizza nutrition project and that of the effect of baking soda on cakes. Also popular with the crowds were demonstrations of a trebuchet by fifth grader Tommy Greenwald and optical illusions by John Juco, a sixth grader.
