Maple Place Students Recognized for Achievements

The Oceanport Board of Education honored students for recent accomplishments.

It was an all-female cast for the lineup of students honored by the Thursday night for recent achievements.

Five students were recognized for their participation in the 2012 National Girls and Women in Sports Day. School Principal Cory Radisch called the group the "creme de la creme" of the school not only their athletic accomplishments but also for reaching "the highest level of academic achievement in the classroom."

The honored students were: Erin Cunneff, Becca Witschel, Marialana Olmo, Gabby Bates and Gianna Attardi.

The board also celebrated Maple Place student Lauren Harrigan who recently received the Prudential Community Service Award. After reading the letter Harrigan received from President Barak Obama commending here for her accomplishments, Radisch said that she "completely embodied" the sentiments of the award.
