Maple Place Student Surprised With XBOX 360 After Donating to Worthy Cause (VIDEO)

Student was one of two winners in state

Maple Place student Christopher Forlini was shocked when he walked into the main office of his school on Tuesday morning.

Christopher, 11, was given an XBOX 360 after being chosen as the winner of drawing held by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Christopher donated $100 to the society's Pasta For Pennies Program, which encourages schools to get students to donate funds for leukemia and lymphoma reserarch.

"I had no idea," Chris said. "I didn't even know the contest was going on."

Chris said he made his generous donation because his aunt died from cancer last year and he wanted to do anything he could to help others who suffer from the disease.

Students who donated a minimum of $50 were eligible to enter the drawing for the gaming system.

Overall, the school donated $2,706.22 to the society and Mrs. Kornek's homeroom won a pasta party from Olive Garden for donating the most; $513.44.

School Principal Matt Howell thanked all the students for donating and thanked school guidance counselor Megan Bonett and life skills teacher Terry Finnegan for helping to coordinate the Pennies for Pasta Program.
