Oceanport's Maple Place Principal to Leave in July

School superintendent says he's moving forward with the process of replacing Cory Radisch as soon as possible.

The is moving ahead with the process of replacing Principal Cory Radisch, who announced last week he would be leaving in July to take over as principal at the Matawan Middle School.

The district will advertise for the position, according to Superintendent Andrew Orefice, and form a committee to help narrow down and interview potential candidates.

Orefice said that he expects to receive about 30 resumes and will reduce the field to about 15 candidates to present to the committee. The committee -- comprised of two teachers, two board of education members and the administrative team -- will then score the resumes using a rubric and taper the field even further to end up with about eight candidates to interview.

The June 14 board of education workshop meeting will provide the public and board members the opportunity to discuss many different options for filling the open principal position, said Orefice.

As for losing Radisch, who has been with the district since March 2010, the superintendent told Patch, "It's a big loss for us."
