Maple Place Chargers Honored For Outstanding Season
The team won the middle school championship last week.
The Maple Place Chargers baseball team was honored for its outstanding season on Thursday night.
The Oceanport Board of Education recognized the team, which won the middle school championship last week by beating Tinton Falls 8-4.
"This is the best team I've coached in my six years," Coach John Vaccarelli said during the meeting. "They battled all season long and won five regular season games by two runs or less."

The team even won the finals by scoring five runs in the seventh winning to beat Tinton Falls.
The boys received certificates and were honored during another ceremony at Maple Place on Friday as well.
