Little Silver Schools Receive Technological Boost From Education Foundation

The Education Foundation of Little Silver approved over $32,000 in grants to provide more computers, SMART Boards and other equipment to Point Road and Markham Place schools.

The Education Foundation of Little Silver released the following statement;

“The students at Markham Place and Point Road Schools will start the next school year off with $32,736 worth of new equipment, thanks to grants from the Education Foundation of Little Silver.

Requests were submitted by teachers and administrators of both schools for the best and latest technological equipment such as SMART Boards, laptops and projectors.  The Education Foundation board members carefully considered each request and awarded the grants for the schools with the equipment they felt is most in need, and will best serve the students.

Education Foundation President, Josephine Nagle, explained ‘We are a group of parents who understand the importance of providing our children with the latest technology. It is wonderful that, despite the current economy, our community continues to be so financially generous and supportive of our mission.’

It is not just the students who benefit from the grants.  Nick Mancheno, a third grade teacher at Little Silver , states ‘The bottom line is that student motivation is the key to learning and engagement. Today’s children are technologically savvy, so providing them with cutting-edge technological tools is a wonderful way to motivate students to learn and have fun while doing so. The (Education Foundation) has been extremely generous in providing our school with the technology that will motivate our students to learn and succeed.’
