GALLERY: Share Your Markham Place Graduation Photos

The annual event, rife with tradition, took place Thursday night. We want to see your pictures, too!

In the blink of an eye, Class of 2012 walked past the gazebo and picked up their diplomas and will soon join the decades of graduates whose class photos line the hallways of the middle school.

Thursday's blue skies provided the perfect backdrop for the time-honored tradition of the boys, dressed in dinner jackets, and the girls, wearing pastel-colored gowns (for the most part), to walk across the lawn in front of the school in the annual eighth grade commencement ceremony.

The June 14 event was marked by addresses from William Wiener, Sarah Baker and Matthew Smith and performances by graduating members from the school's choral, band and orchestra.

Following the ceremony and some milling about with families and friends, the eighth grade proceeded to the school's cafetorium that had been transformed by seventh grade moms into a seaside escape for the graduation dance.
