Back to School Schedules for Little Silver, Oceanport Students

Is the first day of school a full or half day? What time does the first bell ring? Read on to find out.

For a lot of us moms, the looming first day of school for most of our kids this week means we have to snap out of that summer daze we've been in for the last few months and start paying attention to details, like have the kids eaten dinner and where are their sneakers.

And we know that somewhere, we've gotten a letter in the mail or an e-mail detailing the schedule for this first, quick week of school, but darned if we can remember where it is and what it said.

So, in an effort to help moms -- and lots of dads -- get everyone where they need to be and when, Patch has put together a listing of schedules for the first few days at local schools. We will not, however, be able to help you find any missing backpacks or pencil cases come Thursday. For that, you are on your own.

Little Silver

Both Point Road and Markham Place students will start the school year on Thursday, Sept. 6 with a full day. The district stretched the school day a bit at both schools this year, and the new hours are as follows:

  • Preschool AM 9 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Preschool PM Noon - 2:55 p.m.
  • Kindergarten AM 8:05 a.m - 11 a.m.
  • Kindergarten PM Noon - 2:55 p.m.
  • Grades 1-4  8:05 a.m. - 2:55 p.m.

  • Grades 5-8  8:10 a.m. - 3 p.m.

Oceanport

Students attending Oceanport's and schools also start on Thursday, but ease into the new year with four-hour sessions both days this week before kicking into full days starting on Monday.

RBR students jump right into the school year with a full "A Day" starting on Sept. 6 at 7:35 a.m. and letting out at 2:31 p.m

Students at Shore will also start off with a full day on Thursday with the first bell going off at 7:30 a.m. and final bell at 2:25 p.m.
