RBR Welcomes Back Students and Families

RBR Principal's official welcome back to school letter. It isn't too soon to get ready for the new year!

August 2012

Dear Students and Families:

Our high school faculty, staff and administration are pleased to extend a warm and personal welcome to you and your child. I am proud to note that once again, Red Bank Regional was named one of the state and the nation’s top performing high schools. We look forward to working together and building new relationships. The goal of our administration and faculty is to deliver challenging course work and quality instruction that will inspire you to achieve success.

High school years are the years to get involved. Last year we began an initiative known as Buc Pride. This movement, begun by a student, helped to motivate our campus to a new level of enthusiasm and excitement. Every year our website is filled with features about our students and staff who volunteer, achieve accolades and aspire to greatness in the classroom and on the field. With a long list of clubs, sports and freshman teams, there is no reason not to make this the year to try something positive and new. The greatest indicator of high school success is involvement. Be that Buccaneer!

Getting involved begins with the successful completion of summer work. Every child has summer requirements that are due day one. Be sure that your child is prepared from the day he/she enters our building. It is essential to be prepared and to be on time to school. The playing field at RBR is a tough one, but assistance is available. Students can be supported through homework help, tutoring or counseling as needed. This is an opportunity for a fresh start.

We also need family involvement. Many family members think their high school no longer needs them; the opposite is actually true. We have many options for family members who would like to learn more about RBR. Each of our academies has an Advisory Board welcoming parental involvement. We have our PTO, our Education Foundation, our Source Foundation and our Buc Backers. Whatever your passion, you can channel it and become involved in your high school!

Our Web site and Parent Portal are major modes of communication with families. Relevant forms for students and families may be found on our website in both English and Spanish under a tab labeled “New Forms.” All forms are required to be completed and returned to study hall teachers by September 10. Families are urged to sign up for our Parent Portal. The Portal allows access to important information such as grades, attendance and student schedules. This year we are excited to debut our new mobile site, making accessing information on your cell phone quick and easy.

Sept. 6 is the first day of school for students. This will be an “A” Day; the schedule is posted on our Web site. Day two will then be a “B” Day. To help ease the transition for our incoming 9th grade students, RBR will hold its 9th Grade Orientation for students on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 2 p.m. at the high school. All information regarding orientation is posted on our website.

Students, we understand that not all students learn the same way. At RBR we take pride in our strong teachers and our nationally recognized top performing high school. As learners, you must strive to achieve your academic potential. You must help and support each other by promoting tolerance, respect and understanding. Your principal and faculty are here to support each of you and to help you reach your goals.

Parents, thank you for your commitment to RBR and to your child’s education. Your thoughts and comments are always welcome.

Sincerely,

Risa Clay

Principal
