RBR Clarinetist a Finalist in Young Artist’s Competition for University of Oklahoma

Red Bank Regional Academy of Visual & Performing Arts’ student and senior Matthew Rosen of Little Silver was selected as one of five finalists for the International Young Artist’s Competition, sponsored by the University of Oklahoma’s Clarinet Symposium. The competition is one of the best known and highly-regarded in the United States for student clarinetists.   Matt will travel to Oklahoma, on June 12 through the 14 for the final competition. The winner will receive a cash prize among other accolades including participation in an intensive master class at the University of Oklahoma.

Matthew, who plays bass clarinet and saxophone in addition to the clarinet, has been honored multiple times throughout his high school career for his musical skill and talent. Last year, he was accepted to the All National Honor Band, recognizing him as one of the best high honored school musicians in the country. He will attend the University of Rochester’s Eastman School of Music in the fall as a clarinet performance major. He aspires to play in a professional orchestra upon graduation from college.

Matt states: “It has been a good year for me. I earned a finalist spot in this important competition and acceptance into the conservatory of my choice. I look forward to the future to see where my musical career will take me."
