RBR Names New Administrators
RBR Supervisor Robert Donohoe of Oceanport was recently promoted to assistant principal Thomas J. McDonough of Jackson, was hired as supervisor, succeeding Mr. Donohoe at RBR.
(RBR) Supervisor Robert Donohoe of Oceanport was recently promoted to assistant principal by the RBR Board of Education. He fills the vacancy left by Will Smith, who accepted the position of principal at Raritan High School this past summer. The board also named Thomas J. McDonough of Jackson, an educator in Colts Neck High School, as supervisor, succeeding Mr. Donohoe. Mr. McDonough is expected to begin his duties at RBR sometime in October. RBR English teacher Jennifer Kanuga will serve as interim English coordinator until his arrival.
Robert Donohoe began his teaching career at RBR in 2001 as a math teacher. He was promoted to a supervisory position in 2010. In his new position of assistant principal, he will support the growth of the Academy of International and Cultural Studies. He continues in his role of supervisor of the Freshman Academy, AVID and the World Language Department. During his tenure at RBR, Mr. Donohoe served as a lead teacher in the Freshman Academy, oversaw the summer enrichment programs and managed the district’s $1.25 million federal grant for implementing smaller learning communities.
He states of this position, “I am grateful for the opportunity to work with our fine teaching staff. I hope to inspire them and contribute toward their professional growth so they inspire our students toward success.”

Thomas J. McDonough will take the position of Supervisor of Humanities (Language Arts and Social Studies). He will also supervise the Academy of Humanities and Social Sciences. Mr. McDonough taught English in the Freehold Regional School District for ten years and held administrative assistant responsibilities for three years. He also worked on the district’s Freshman Transition Program and on their summertime ELL program. He held coaching positions as the head coach for JV softball and assistant coach in varsity softball and bowling.
He comments, “I have been following the progress of RBR for sometime and am excited to contribute to what I know is a such a great school community.”
