Oceanport park receives $25,000 grant

Maria Gatta Park has been selected as part of the Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant Program.

The Board of Chosen Freeholders has allocated $2 million from the annual Monmouth County Open Space Trust Fund for cooperative projects with Monmouth County municipalities. Both land acquisition and development for park, recreation and open space purposes are eligible for funding.

One of the projects the Board of Chosen Freeholders selected for 2010 funding was Maria Gatta Community Park in Oceanport. The Port-au-Peck Ave. park will receive $25,000 for phase 1 development through the Monmouth County Municipal Open Space Grant Program, a “competitive” program administered by the Monmouth County Park System on behalf of the Board of Freeholders.
