Report: Oceanport Mayor May Have Jeopardized Fort Monmouth Deals by Sharing Information

Mayors of Oceanport and Tinton Falls regularly shared confidential information with their borough councils.

Two mayors may have broken confidentiality rules and jeopardized Fort Monmouth redevelopment deals after they allegedly briefed council members on negotiations affecting their towns, according to an Asbury Park Press article.

Mayors Michael Mahon of Oceanport and Michael Skudera of Tinton Falls told the Asbury Park Press that they regularly update members of their borough councils with relevant Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA) information.

The information is provided during the councils’ executive sessions, and those board members are also bound by confidentiality rules, unable to discuss the issues publicly.
