Little Silver is hosting an information session for residents seeking grant money to repair or raise homes damaged by Hurricane Sandy, according to Mayor Robert Neff.

The information session will be held at Little Silver Borough Hall on Friday, June 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

During the session, representatives of the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA), which is administering the grants, will provide information and assistance for those with questions about the grant application process, Neff said.

Residents can also visit www.renewjerseystronger.org or call 1-855-SANDY-HM (1-855-726-3946) to apply or get additional information about the two DCA grants available.

"Little Silver strongly encourages all residents to file their applications by June 30 in order to be considered in the first round of grant applications," Neff said in an email to Patch.

The Homeowner Resettlement grant provides a $10,000 grant award to eligible homeowners whose primary residence was damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

"It requires you to remain in or return to Sandy impacted communities," Neff said.

The Homeowner Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation (RREM) program provides up to $150,000 for eligible homeowners to repair, elevate or rebuild their primary residences in the affected communities, Neff said.
