Fort Monmouth's Russel Hall Now Officially For Sale

The property is envisioned for office, medical or research use.

By Christopher Sheldon

Add Russel Hall to the long list of Fort Monmouth properties that are currently for sale.

The 42,300 square foot, historic building is located on Sanger Avenue in the Oceanport Reuse Area of Fort Monmouth. It was built in 1936 and served as the Army's Garrison Headquarters.

The available property totals 6.5 acres and includes Sanger and Wallington Avenues and an adjacent heliport pad.

A request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) was issued for the property on Sept. 6 by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority (FMERA).

The property was originally envisioned as a future government use, but FMERA is looking to amend the reuse plan to allow it to house an office, medical or research use.

The New Jersey Economic Development Authority currently occupies the third floor of Russel Hall and has the right to do so until July 15, 2014.

Responses for those who wish to develop the property must be submitted by Nov. 7, so it is expected that FMERA would not select a developer until some time in 2014.
