Fort Monmouth Marina Property Will Be Put Up For Sale

Oceanport was originally leasing the property while looking for a buyer.

The Fort Monmouth Marina, located in Oceanport, will so be on the open market.

The Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Authority will soon make the property available through the request for offers to purchase (RFOTP) process.

The property was originally leased to Oceanport, but the borough was unsuccessful its attempts to find a concessionaire for the property.

FMERA will now look for buyers for the property itself, according to Executive Director Bruce Steadman, who said the marina will no longer be leased.

"It's for sale only," Steadman said. "And we don't want to be in the marina-operation business."

Steadman said the property is currently being appraised by FMERA and that the Army is doing its own appraisal.

The marina is a 3.9-acre parcel located at Oceanport and Riverside Avenues in Oceanport. The property consists of a 71-slip marina and boat launch ramp on Oceanport Creek, a 2,600-square-foot boat house, two administrative buildings and off-street parking.

The reuse plan for the site states that it must maintain its use as a marina but can also have a restaurant.

In the past, the marina was only open to Army employees, but once a developer is selected, it will be open to the public.
