Branch Ave. to Get Temporary Traffic Lights by Mid-June

The county anticipates brief closures of the two intersections to accommodate the installation.

The temporary traffic signals to be installed at two intersections on Branch Avenue in should be in operation by June 15, according to a county spokesperson.

The lights, at White Road and Rumson Road, are being installed to accommodate the expected increase in traffic converging in those intersections when a for six months for a bridge replacement project the county is performing.

The installation of the traffic signals will cause some detours and short-term closures for "necessary utility work," county spokesperson William K. Heine told Patch on Thursday. He said closures would be "brief" and coordinated with "off peak travel times."

The lights will remain for the duration of the bridge project, which will start in July and is anticipated to take at least six months, and will be removed upon completion of construction.

Heine said the county had had "numerous" discussion with school and borough officials regarding the project. Prior to the advertising for a contract to perform the work in October, Heine said the county had contacted the schools to ensure work would begin after the close of the school year.
