By Elaine Van Develde

Information is scarce about an early Sunday morning accident in Rumson involving the collision of a vehicle into a house at Rumson and Hance roads.

Rumson Mayor John Ekdahl said on Sunday afternoon that police are not yet offering information.

However, a post on Sea Bright Fire Rescue's Facebook page reported that the accident occurred early this morning with a car dead ending into the home at end of Hance at Rumson Road.

It added that "crews arrived to find a single vehicle into the basement of a house with extensive structural damage and heavy entrapment of the driver. Members quickly went to work assisting Station 23 with stabilizing the vehicle while a technical rescue assignment from Asbury Park Fire Department shored up the structure. The driver was subsequently freed from the vehicle and turned over to EMS."

A shared post from Asbury Park Fire Department's page said that at 4:29 a.m. Asbury Park Fire Department's Special Operations unit was dispatched to a the site to help with a "vehicle in house" incident with concerns about structural collapse and entrapment.

"We worked seamlessly with guys we don't unusually work with and brought the incident to a favorable outcome," the post said. "Big thanks to Rumson, Sea Bright, and Little Silver FDs and their respective police and EMS agencies."

Sea Bright Fire Rescue updated its Facebook page Sunday evening with 16 photos, specifying that the "photos are merely to depict the efforts that were made by our members. None of the photos show any pictures of either the victim or any identifying features of the vehicle (license plate)."
